traditional beginnings
Last weekend I was given the most wonderful gift: a table easle, canvases and acryl paints. This took me back to doing traditional media for a change again… I am very rusty and will need some time to get back into the flow – and for now, this gives me the opportunity to mix my methods. This piece started off on cavas and I took it into Krita for further work.

This process has now opened up another new process and lets me carry on my experiements with different colour treatments of the work in progress.

The painting started with the concept of a diagonal space with the lower part to represent the water and earth and the upper part to be a sky background behind a bare tree. While experimenting the new paints, I experimented with blending colour and creating solid areas. When I reached this point, I thought it would be perfect to move this into Krita.
Using the digital brushes and tools as well as the colour belding functions, I could then let the image evolve.
To experiment with the colours, I could now use all the digital tools at my disposal. It was so much fun to work with parts of this painting on a single layer and the rest in various top layers, using the blending modes for further fine tuning.
